In 2 weeks I begin teaching a vastly different course for a vastly different company - this time - undergrads - students who have been away from school for some time, perhaps a little unsure of their academic skills and definitely reported to be rusty. The requirements for teaching for this company are that you have to teach 2 sections of the same course simultaneously. Also there are 20 students in each section - so 40 total...
Now I'm thinking - oh my gosh - in my current course there are only 10 folks, and I can spend a lot of time with feedback and support - but how will this change - strategies used, etc... to shift gears to a more demanding load... with students that are not graduate students, but struggling undergrads...both new to online learning -
What impact will it have on my ability to really support these other learners. The training for this new course consisted mostly of all the things we HAVE to do to make sure that students are supported - It is a much more controlling environment in terms of what facilitators have to do - it will be an interesting comparison... So much for free time :)
